How it Works
Is online learning for me?
The online student must take responsibility for his or her own learning. In any online education program, the student must be a self-directed learner, have internal motivation to manage his or her own learning during the course of study, and have a basic grasp of Internet navigation. Minnesota Virtual High School™ requires students to make the appropriate time for their coursework, in order to succeed.
How does this work?
Minnesota Virtual High School is a pioneering online program that is offered by Minnesota Transitions Charter School. Because all of our courses are online, we offer our students flexibility that they might not receive in a traditional setting. Our online curriculum is rigorous, engaging, and self-paced. All of our courses are backed by our highly qualified staff of certified teachers who are available via instant message, phone, or email. We also offer a 24/7 student support environment so that you can get help when you need it.
Are there any age restrictions?
Yes, students age 21 and over are unable to participate in the program. Some other restrictions may apply.
What grade levels does Minnesota Virtual High School serve?
Minnesota Virtual High School serves students in grades 7-12.
Can students with IEPs (Individualized Education Plans) participate in the program?
The on-line learning experience will not accommodate all IEP students. Students with an IEP will be evaluated on an individual basis by an Administrator to ensure the opportunity for the student’s success.
What is the cost of taking online courses?

Yes! We offer both part-time and full-time online options for our students.
How many courses must a full-time student take?
Full-time students take a minimum of 10 courses (5 in the fall, 5 in the spring).

How quickly can I move through the course?
All of our courses are set up on a 120 calendar day schedule, similar to a typical semester. However, students have the ability to move through the course at their own pace.
What is the schedule like?

When do I attend class?
Just as in a traditional school, students must engage in their coursework every day of the regular school week and show weekly progress. Students may log in to their courses any time of the day or evening. Failure to attend courses regularly may result in withdrawal from the program.
